Structural characteristics

Das Hochdruckleitungsnetz von terranets bw mit Betriebsnenndrücken bis 80 bar erstreckt sich über eine Gesamtlänge von rund 3.000 km. Über das Leitungsnetz von terranets bw wird Gas zu ca. 300 Netzkopplungs- und Ausspeisepunkten transportiert.

Die Höchstlast im Geschäftsjahr 2024 wurde am 12.01.2024 zwischen 08:00 Uhr und 09:00 Uhr gemessen. In dieser Stunde entnahmen nachgelagerte Netzbetreiber und Industriekunden eine Menge von insgesamt 28.749 MWh/h zeitgleich aus dem Transportnetz der terranets bw. Die entnommene Jahresarbeit im Geschäftsjahr 2024 betrug 93.922.922 MWh.

Wir transportieren ausschließlich Gas der Beschaffenheit H. Der Brennwert an den Ein- und Ausspeisepunkten bewegte sich im Geschäftsjahr 2024 zwischen 9,34 kWh/m³N und 11,87 kWh/m³N.

Calculating technical entry and exit capacities

terranets bw calculates firm, freely allocable capacities (FZK) at entry and exit points on the basis of historical capacity bookings and internal orders according to a statistical procedure. Learn more about this from this PDF document.

We constantly maintain our networks to state-of-the-art technology standards. Here you will find information on current maintenance, repair and integration measures in the network area of terranets bw that can cause capacity restrictions. Shippers or grid operators that may be affected are informed in good time about possible restrictions to their shipping capacity.

In the period 2006 to 2011 as well as 2013, 2014, 2019 untill 2024 shipping in the gas network of terranets bw was possible without restrictions. Despite regional capacity restrictions, interruption of interruptible capacities could be avoided by applying internal switching and subsitution measures.

Regulation (EU) 2024/1789

According to Regulation (EC) 715/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on access to the natural gas transmission systems and in particular Chapter 2 of Annex 1 as amended on 10 November 2010, European transmission system operators are obliged to publish various regularly updated information in a common data format on their websites.

According to Art. 29 of Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/460 of 16 March 2017 establishing a network code on harmonised transmission tariff structures, European transmission system operators are obliged to publish information prior to the annual auction.

Information on standard capacity products for interruptible capacity
(Reserve prices and an evaluation of the probability of an interruption)

In Annex I of its Decision BK9-24/612 (MARGIT 2026), the Federal Network Agency determined the amount of the discount for interruptible capacity to be applied at the interconnection points. The methodology to calculate these discounts is described in section 7 of the decision of MARGIT 2026.

The methodology to calculate discounts for interruptible capacity of storage points is specified in the decision of the BNetzA BK9-18/608 (Decision ‘BEATE 2.0’, chapter 3.2). The probability of interruption Pro according to decision BK9-18/608 (Decision ‘BEATE 2.0’) is derived from the data of the last three gas business years of the respective entry and exit point according to the following formula:

(K)u describes the maximum interrupted interruptible capacity on day t, (K)v describes the interruptible capacity marketed on day t and S the safety margin, which represents the forecast uncertainty. The probability of interruption is rounded up to full percentage. The applicable discount corresponds to the probability of interruption and is independent of the product duration.

According to decision BK9-24/608 (‘BEATE 2.1’), the safety margin of S=10% is again valid for all non-interconnection points, whereas the safety margin at non-interconnection points in the H-gas network was set to S=20% from 01/10/2021 to 31/12/2025.

The data to calculate the discount (sales and interruption of interruptible capacity) can be obtained at the ENTSOG transparency platform.

There has been no interruption at the points according to BEATE 2.0.

For the discount for interruptible capacity in the calendar year 2026 terranets bw GmbH refers to the attachment I of MARGIT 2026.

Provision of meter readings
By mutual agreement, terranets bw provides upstream and downstream grid operators with meter readings taken at common network interconnection points. Data deliveries occur daily (preliminary data) for the respective previous day and monthly (final data) for the respective previous month. Provision of final data occurs by mutual agreement from the 6th working day of a subsequent month (M+6).
